We use minimal cookies. This page explains each one and why it exists.
BorealBay tries to keep cookies to a minimum. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site identification. This page describes every type of storage we use. Last updated: 21 May 2026.
BorealBay uses browser local storage rather than traditional server-set cookies for its two essential functions. Local storage works differently from cookies — it is stored on your device only and is not transmitted to our servers with each request. However, like cookies, it persists between sessions until cleared.
The two items we store: (1) a flag indicating that you have confirmed you are 18 or older — this prevents the age gate from appearing on every page load; (2) a flag recording whether you accepted or declined the cookie notice — this prevents the notice from reappearing after you have made your choice. These items are identified by the keys bv_age_ok and bv_ck_ok / bv_ck_no.
Neither of these items contains personal information. Neither is shared with us or any third party. They are purely functional. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or site data — if you do, the age gate and cookie notice will reappear on your next visit, which is the expected behaviour.
If you click "Accept" on the cookie banner, we may enable a lightweight analytics service to collect anonymised data about how visitors use BorealBay — which pages are visited, roughly how long sessions last, and what devices are used. This data is collected in aggregate and cannot identify you individually.
We use Google Consent Mode to ensure that no analytics data is collected unless you have explicitly consented. The default state — before you have made any choice — is to deny all analytics storage. This is set in the page header before any external scripts load, so consent is always sought before data is gathered.
If you click "Decline", no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is collected. Your use of BorealBay is entirely unaffected by your choice — declining analytics does not degrade the game experience in any way.
If you opt in via the banner, we may save small interface preferences — for example, your stake size in the game. Nothing in this category identifies you personally. If you opt out, sensible defaults are used for all preferences, and no preference data is stored.
We do not currently use preferences cookies; this section describes the category in case we introduce them in future. If we do, this page will be updated to describe them specifically.
BorealBay loads fonts from Google Fonts and the Bootstrap CSS framework from jsDelivr. These services may set their own cookies or local storage when they serve these resources. We have no control over their cookie behaviour. You can review Google Fonts privacy information at fonts.google.com/about and jsDelivr's policy at their website.
We do not use social media buttons, share widgets, or embedded third-party content that would typically set tracking cookies. We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, or any equivalent advertising technology. The presence of a Google Consent Mode snippet in our page header is precautionary infrastructure — it ensures that if any Google service is active, consent is respected from the first page load.
You can clear all cookies and local storage for this site at any time through your browser settings. In Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data → choose "Cookies and other site data". In Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data. In Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data. The exact path varies by browser version.
After clearing, the age gate and cookie banner will reappear on your next visit. Your game progress (credits, scores) will also reset, since virtual credit totals are tracked locally, not on our server. This is by design — we do not store your game progress anywhere outside your own browser.
